The Role
The Department of Computer Science wish to appoint a Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship) in Computer Science. The post-holder will be expected to contribute to the areas of teaching and administration in the department.

What you’ll do
This job description is subject to review and amendment in the light of the changing needs of the University, to provide appropriate development opportunities and/or the addition of any other reasonable duties.
- To undertake teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including teaching through the medium of Welsh.
- To complete administrative tasks related to teaching and research.
- To contribute to course and subject development.
- To support and assist students and contribute to an excellent student experience.
- To become Fellow or Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (based on previous teaching experience) or obtain a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education, unless an appropriate equivalent qualification has already been obtained.
- To undertake health and safety duties and responsibilities appropriate to the post.

- To be committed to your own development and that of your staff through the effective use of the University’s Effective Contribution Scheme.
- Demonstrate flexibility by supporting colleagues during periods of high demand, including attendance at key university events such as open days and graduation ceremonies which may include weekend work.
- Engage in university-level projects and initiatives as directed, and undertake any additional duties commensurate with the role, as assigned by the line manager.
For Grades 8, additional duties include:
- To lead modules and co-ordinate the work of staff.
- Identify ways of improving and enhancing the modules and student experience.

Who you are – Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills required
Essential
- PhD in a relevant subject or very close to completion
- Experience of teaching undergraduate or postgraduate classes in Computer Science
- A broad knowledge and understanding of Computer Science, sufficient to support teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels
- Ability to carry out day-to-day administrative tasks conscientiously, efficiently and in a timely manner
- Strong inter-personal and communication skills, including the capacity to work effectively as part of a team
- A commitment to the future of the Department of Computer Science and Aberystwyth University as centres of excellence in teaching and research
- Oral (spoken) and Written Welsh Level B2
Desirable
